What an expert SEO audit reveals
A full SEO audit covers 10 key areas. Each one gets a score from 1 to 10 plus a prioritized to-do list — URGENT, IMPORTANT, USEFUL, CAN WAIT:
Technical SEO — what we check automatically
Technical SEO is the foundation of any ranking strategy. Without solid meta tags, markup, and indexing, even great content won't make it to the top of search results. The tool checks that each of these is present and set up correctly:
- Title tag — 30–60 characters, unique, includes your main keyword
- Meta description — 120–160 characters, with a call to action
- Canonical URL — points to the primary version of the page to prevent duplicates
- Schema.org JSON-LD structured data — Organization, WebSite, Article, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Product, Review
- Open Graph and Twitter Card — link previews on social media
- H1–H6 headings — document structure and hierarchy
- robots.txt and sitemap.xml — control over indexing
- HTTPS certificate and security headers — HSTS, CSP, X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy, Permissions-Policy
Core Web Vitals and page speed
Core Web Vitals are Google's key speed metrics. They've been a ranking factor in Google since 2021 and in Yandex since 2022:
- LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — how long it takes the main element (image or heading) to appear. Target: under 2.5 seconds
- CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — how stable the layout is while loading. Target: under 0.1
- INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — how quickly the page responds to user input. Target: under 200 ms
- FCP (First Contentful Paint) — how long it takes the first visual element to appear. Target: under 1.8 seconds
- TTFB (Time to First Byte) — server response time. Target: under 600 ms
The tool uses the PageSpeed Insights API (when a key is available and the quota allows) or measures metrics locally with the Playwright Performance API — no Google key required. So you always get a speed score, even when PSI is temporarily down.
AI SEO in 2026 — get your site cited by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of optimizing a website so large language models cite it in their answers. According to 2025 data, AI search already drives 5–15% of traffic to new websites, and that share keeps growing. To get cited by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, your site needs three things:
- AI bots must be allowed in robots.txt. The tool checks 13 bots: GPTBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot, anthropic-ai, Google-Extended, GoogleOther, CCBot (Common Crawl), FacebookBot, Amazonbot, AppleBot, Bytespider (TikTok), Diffbot, YouBot.
- An llms.txt file — a new standard from 2024 that gives LLMs a structured overview of what matters on your site and how its content is organized.
- High-quality Schema.org structured data, especially FAQPage, HowTo, Article, and Organization — LLMs use it to pull quotable snippets.
Website legal audit under Russian law
Between December 2024 and the end of 2025, major amendments took effect to Federal Law No. 152-FZ “On Personal Data”, 38-FZ “On Advertising” (erid ad labeling required since 09/01/2022), 2300-1 “On Consumer Rights Protection”, and 436-FZ “On Protecting Children from Harmful Information”. Fines for companies have gone up several times over. SEO Expert Auditor checks 8 mandatory website requirements and shows the actual fines you could face:
- Privacy policy — up to 18,000,000 ₽ under 152-FZ for repeat violations
- Personal data consent checkbox on forms — up to 1,500,000 ₽
- Cookie banner — up to 500,000 ₽ for violating personal data processing rules
- Ad labeling (erid) — up to 500,000 ₽ under 38-FZ
- Age ratings (0+, 6+, 12+, 16+, 18+) — up to 200,000 ₽ under 436-FZ
- Business details of the site owner (INN, OGRN/OGRNIP, registered address) — up to 50,000 ₽
- Terms of use or public offer — up to 30,000 ₽
- Public contact info (email, phone) — up to 30,000 ₽
INN and OGRN numbers are validated by checksum — the tool doesn't just look for 10–13 digits, it verifies them using the Federal Tax Service formula.
Deep audit — real rankings, traffic, and backlinks
The basic SEO audit checks a single page and needs no keys. For deeper analysis, connect API keys for your own data sources. Every field is optional, and keys are never stored on the server — they're discarded once the audit is done:
- Google Search Console — real Google rankings, CTR, countries, and devices for the last 90 days
- Yandex Webmaster (OAuth) — Yandex rankings, SQI, regional settings, technical alerts
- Ahrefs API — backlink profile, Domain Rating, toxic links, competitors
- Google Analytics 4 / Yandex Metrica — real traffic, user behavior, conversions
Every data source comes with a step-by-step guide right inside the tool for getting an API key — no digging through external docs.

SEO audit FAQ
How long does an SEO audit take?
A basic audit without external API keys takes 60–120 seconds. With Google Search Console, Ahrefs, or Yandex Webmaster connected, it can take 2–3 minutes because of the extra API requests. All checks run in parallel, and you can watch the progress in real time.
Do I need technical skills to understand the report?
No. The report is written in plain language for website owners, not developers. For every issue, it tells you exactly what to do, why it matters, and how long it'll take. Statuses are simple labels (URGENT, IMPORTANT, USEFUL) — no jargon like severity, impact, or difficulty. You can hand the 14-tab Excel report straight to your developer — it includes details for every check.
Can I audit a WordPress, Tilda, or Bitrix site?
Yes, it works with any CMS: WordPress, Tilda, Bitrix, Joomla, Drupal, Webflow, Wix, Shopify, OpenCart, Modx, plus custom sites built with React, Vue, or Next.js. The audit loads the page just like a regular browser and analyzes the final HTML after JavaScript rendering with Playwright.
What is llms.txt and do I need it?
llms.txt is a new standard introduced in 2024 that tells large language models how your website is structured. It looks a lot like robots.txt, but it describes what content matters and how it's organized for LLMs. The file lives in your site's root (example.com/llms.txt). Since 2025, llms.txt has been supported by Anthropic, OpenAI, and Mistral. Adding one improves your chances of being cited by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.
Does the audit work for sites outside Russia?
Technical checks (SEO, speed, mobile-friendliness, AI discoverability) work for any website in any language. The “Legal compliance” section only applies to sites targeting Russian users — it lists fines under Russian law. If your site serves the EU, you'll also want to check GDPR compliance separately.
How is it different from Lighthouse in Chrome DevTools?
Lighthouse is Google's built-in tool for checking a page's technical quality. SEO Expert Auditor includes Lighthouse metrics (Core Web Vitals via PSI) and goes much further: AI discoverability across 13 LLM bots, visibility in ChatGPT and Claude, Russian legal compliance, an above-the-fold Vision review by Claude Opus 4.8, link previews in Telegram and VK, plus checks for lead forms and tracking pixels. Lighthouse doesn't give you a written summary or a prioritized action plan — SEO Expert Auditor does.
Can't get a PageSpeed key — will speed still be measured?
Yes. If the PageSpeed Insights API is unavailable or out of quota, the tool automatically switches to local measurement with the Playwright Performance API. It measures LCP, FCP, TTFB, and CLS directly in a headless browser on our server — free and unlimited. Lab data can differ from real-world field data, but it's more than enough for a baseline speed check.
How often should I run an SEO audit?
We recommend running one monthly for actively growing sites, and after every major release (redesign, CMS update, URL structure change, new section). At the very least, run it quarterly so you catch technical regressions early: ranking drops, new duplicate pages, or speed issues after updates.
Can I use it to audit client websites?
Yes, with no restrictions. SEO agencies and freelancers can audit client sites and include the 14-tab Excel report in paid audits. The AI summary from Claude Opus 4.8 makes it easy to explain issues to clients in plain language.
Does it support multilingual sites with hreflang?
Yes. The tool analyzes hreflang tags and the canonical URL for each language version you specify. To audit multiple language versions, run a separate audit for each URL (e.g., example.com/ru/ and example.com/en/). Bulk audits via sitemap.xml that automatically crawl every hreflang version are coming soon.
Under the hood
SEO Expert Auditor runs on a modern stack: Python 3.14 + Flask on the backend, Playwright for real browser emulation (headless Chromium), BeautifulSoup and lxml for HTML parsing, extruct for pulling JSON-LD/Microdata/RDFa markup, openpyxl for building 14-tab Excel files, and Claude Opus 4.8 by Anthropic for the AI summary and Vision review of above-the-fold screenshots. Screenshots are captured at two sizes — desktop 1366×768 and mobile iPhone 375×667.
